Ananth Technologies is a Hyderabad electronics manufacturer that has grown from an ISRO subsystem supplier into the private company India's space programme hands whole spacecraft to. Dr Subba Rao Pavuluri incorporated it on 17 August 1992, after a decade working inside the Indian space programme, and it operates from Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram, with a further office in San Jose, California. It designs and builds onboard computers, embedded systems, avionics, radio-frequency and microwave communication systems, telemetry, power modules, DC-DC converters and missile interface units, and is an approved vendor to ISRO, the Defence Research and Development Laboratory and Bharat Dynamics. In February 2022 Pavuluri said the company had given ISRO "zero-defect manufacturing support" to around 69 launch vehicles and 89 spacecraft.
The Bengaluru satellite plant is where the supplier role turned into responsibility for finished spacecraft. PTI reported on 18 October 2024 that Ananth had completed the integration of two 400 kg class satellites for ISRO, the first time the agency had awarded such a project to a private partner, with more than 100 engineers and technicians working at a 10,000 square metre facility in the KIADB Aerospace Park. Business Today identified the pair as the SpaDeX docking satellites, delivered to the UR Rao Satellite Centre ahead of India's first docking experiment. In May 2026 the company said it had run end-to-end assembly, integration and testing on GalaxEye's Drishti satellite and built its solar panels in house; Drishti had launched two days earlier on a SpaceX Falcon 9 from Vandenberg Space Force Base.
Launch-vehicle work runs alongside it. Ananth carried out stage integration and checkout for PSLV-C51, which flew on 28 February 2021 — the first time ISRO contracted a private company for that task — and repeated it on PSLV-C52, C53 and C54, while its Thiruvananthapuram unit builds the avionics packages and sub-assembles flight stages. It supplied 29 components for PSLV-C60 and rendezvous processing units and DC-to-DC converters for SpaDeX, and NewsBytes reported in May 2025 that it had been a key component supplier for Chandrayaan-3. The business behind that record is modest. Reaffirming a CARE A-; Stable rating on 22 December 2023, CARE Ratings recorded total operating income of ₹215.50 crore in FY23 and set against it a moderate scale of operations, an elongated 214-day operating cycle and 67% of revenue drawn from the top five defence clients.
Its largest commitment is to a satellite it has yet to build. In July 2025 IN-SPACe cleared Ananth to sell broadband from space from 2028 using a four-tonne, indigenously built geostationary satellite carrying up to 100 Gbps of capacity, against an initial commitment of ₹3,000 crore with more possible if demand justifies it — the first such authorisation to a private Indian company flying a domestically built satellite. Geostationary orbit gives one satellite national coverage but higher latency than the low-orbit constellations of Starlink, Eutelsat OneWeb and Amazon's Project Kuiper, and Developing Telecoms judged that the GEO focus "could limit the markets it addresses". Separately, Ananth is building one of the 31 satellites private industry is to supply under the $3 billion Space Based Surveillance-3 programme, for which the government compressed development from four years to 12-18 months.
