Azista BST Aerospace is a satellite manufacturer set up as an Indo-German joint venture and incorporated in Telangana on 30 October 2019, floated by Hyderabad's Azista Industries, reported to hold 70 per cent, and Berlin Space Technologies of Germany with 30 per cent. Its registered office is at Melange Towers in Madhapur, Hyderabad; its assembly plant sits at the Khoraj Industrial Estate in Sanand, on the edge of Ahmedabad. The company describes itself as a vertically integrated builder of 50-200 kg satellites that makes about 80 per cent of subsystems in-house on a production system it calls ABLean, staffed by engineers it says have worked on more than 75 satellite missions. Alongside complete spacecraft it sells buses from 6U to 400 kg, subsystems such as reaction wheels, power control units and X-band transmitters, and electro-optical imaging payloads.

One satellite carries its entire flight record. AFR, the ABA First Runner, an 80 kg optical Earth-observation spacecraft on the LEOS-50 bus, was deployed into sun-synchronous orbit from SpaceX's Transporter-8 rideshare using an Exolaunch separation system; Exolaunch and Berlin Space Technologies date the launch 12 June 2023, while Indian coverage reports 13 June. Berlin Space Technologies lists a 4.9-metre ground resolution across a 58 km swath from roughly 530 km, with one panchromatic and four multispectral bands, and says commissioning took under four weeks; Indian trade coverage in December 2025 instead gave the satellite a 4.6-metre ground sampling distance and six multispectral bands. Managing director M Srinivas Reddy called the launch "a decisive first step towards delivering a transformative Henry Ford moment for small satellites".

That comparison has not been matched by output. At the June 2023 rollout the company said the Ahmedabad factory was geared up to produce 10 satellites during 2024, with more to follow within 12 to 24 months; no second Azista satellite has been reported in orbit since, and the company's own news pages through 2026 mark anniversaries for AFR alone. The published capacity has moved as well: the 2023 launch release described a 50,000 sq ft plant turning out two satellites a week, or 100 microsatellites a year, while the current site claims 30,000 sq ft of clean rooms and up to 50 satellites a year extendable to 250, and a May 2026 trade report put the building at 30,000 to 50,000 sq ft. Corporate filings compiled by The Company Check show revenue of ₹62.69 lakh in FY2025, down 24 per cent year on year, against paid-up capital of ₹86.38 crore.

The venture's public identity has since shifted. Its LinkedIn page, still at the azista-bst-aerospace address, now carries the name Azista Space, and a newer azista.space site presents the same Hyderabad registered office and the same satellite, renamed Azista First Runner, as part of the Azista Industries group without mentioning Berlin Space Technologies; company filings still list BST's Tom Segert as a director, and the older azistabst.com site remains online. Under the Azista Space name, Gujarat science and technology minister Arjun Modhwadia laid the foundation stone on 22 January 2026 for a Palmnaro electro-optical payload factory at Khoraj in Sanand, alongside state agreements reported at more than ₹500 crore. In December 2025 the Noida analytics firm Suhora added AFR1 imagery to its SPADE platform, in an announcement that named parent Azista Industries rather than the joint venture.
