SatSure
Bengaluru company that turns satellite imagery into farm-credit and infrastructure decisions, and is building its own optical constellation through subsidiary KaleidEO.
SatSure sells decision intelligence built from satellite imagery to banks, insurers, agribusinesses and infrastructure operators. Founded in 2017 and based in Bengaluru, the company lists two founders: Prateep Basu, its chief executive, and Rashmit Singh Sukhmani, its chief technology officer. Its site organises the work into downstream products — SatSure Sage for banking and agricultural lending and SatSure Skies for aviation — alongside the Dhaarini earth intelligence backbone and KaleidEO, the upstream arm that builds imaging hardware. Business India reported in October 2024 that HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and TransUnion were among its strategic investors, and Analytics India Magazine named the Airports Authority of India and Reliance General Insurance among the group's clients.
Money arrived in two disclosed rounds. A pre-Series A of US$5 million, announced on 7 February 2022 and led by Baring Private Equity India with ADB Ventures, Flowstate VC, Force Ventures, IndigoEdge Advisors and others, was earmarked for Southeast Asian expansion and for putting proprietary payloads into low Earth orbit. In August 2023 SatSure closed a $15 million Series A co-led by Baring Private Equity Partners India and Promus Ventures, with Omidyar Network India, xto10X, Force Ventures, Luckbox Ventures and IndigoEdge Advisors joining; a large share was directed at KaleidEO. The company had already made two acquisitions — CropTrails, an Indore farm-management tool, and Philadelphia-based Old City Innovations, formerly Geospoc LLC, USA, bought for cash and stock in a deal announced on 27 May 2022 that opened a United States geospatial services business.
KaleidEO, incorporated in July 2022 as a wholly owned subsidiary, took SatSure upstream into optical payloads and satellites. In September 2023 it ran deep-learning models on imagery aboard an orbiting Satellogic satellite using hardware from the Australian startup Spiral Blue, a demonstration reported as the first edge computing in space by an Indian company, with the pipeline cutting downlinked data volume by about 99 percent. The satellites themselves have slipped. At the Series A, Prateep Basu committed to launching four high-resolution optical and multispectral satellites by the fourth quarter of 2025; in November 2024 co-founder Arpan Sahoo said the target had moved to 2026. The planned fleet is four microsatellites of roughly 175 kg in very low Earth orbit at 380 km.
Two public awards followed. On 13 August 2025 IN-SPACe selected a Pixxel-led consortium of Pixxel, SatSure, Dhruva Space and PierSight to build India's national Earth observation system, a 12-satellite multi-sensor network costed at ₹1,200 crore and to be deployed over three to five years; SatSure is contributing two satellites carrying the wide-swath optical and multispectral imager KaleidEO developed. On 11 June 2026 IN-SPACe awarded the company a ₹24.6 crore Technology Adoption Fund grant, one of three projects selected, to build Dhaarini — large Earth observation models trained for Indian geography and climate. Rashmit Singh Sukhmani told Reuters that "Earth observation is moving from project-specific analytics to reusable intelligence infrastructure."
