NASA has cleared Anil Menon and Joshua Kutryk for the spacewalk scheduled on November 5 to install the International Space Station’s eighth and final roll-out solar array. The agency’s November 4 update records the readiness decision.
The pair staged tools and spacesuits, reviewed robotic support with Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney, and joined mission controllers for a final readiness conference, NASA reported.
Menon is an Indian-origin NASA astronaut; his agency biography states that he was born in Minneapolis to Ukrainian and Indian immigrants.
The clearance follows the timing revision covered in our November 3 report. NASA still schedules the outing for 8:30 a.m. EST, or 7 p.m. IST, on November 5, with about seven hours of work planned.
