NASA names Crew-14 astronauts for 2027 station flight

NASA named four astronauts to Crew-14 on September 24 for a planned flight to the International Space Station no earlier than spring 2027. Its announcement sets out the crew's roles and says the mission is intended as a long-duration science expedition.

NASA astronaut Kayla Barron will command the mission, with fellow NASA astronaut Chris Birch as pilot. Makoto Suwa of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and Arutyun Kiviryan of Roscosmos will serve as mission specialists. NASA says the four would join the station's Expedition 75/76 after docking.

Barron previously spent 177 days in space on Crew-3, NASA says. Crew-14 would be the first spaceflight for Birch and Suwa and the first visit to the station for Kiviryan.

NASA's September 24 release is the sole source for the full crew roster and flight window in this dispatch. It gives no specific launch day beyond the no-earlier-than spring 2027 target.
