UK publishes £7.8bn space strategy through 2030
The September 8 policy groups government plans around satellite communications, orbital awareness, in-orbit services and access to space; it is a delivery framework, not a record of completed projects.

The UK government published its UK Space Strategy on September 8, setting out a £7.8 billion funding envelope through 2030 and placing the document before Parliament. The policy page and the parliamentary statement identify defence, national security and economic growth as its stated outcomes, rather than reporting a completed programme of new space projects.
The strategy formally replaces the National Space Strategy published in 2021. A government release describes the new document as a single framework for space investment and activity; the release also says a national satellite-communications system will be designed, so that proposal should not be read as an operating system.
Four priority areas
The published strategy names satellite communications, space domain awareness, in-orbit servicing, assembly and manufacturing, and access to space as its four priority subsectors. Its accompanying release lists planned allocations including £2.8 billion for connectivity programmes, £880 million for space control and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities, and £40 million for in-orbit servicing, assembly and manufacturing technologies. Those are government commitments in the strategy package, not evidence that the capabilities have already been delivered.
The underlying policy event occurred on September 8. This dispatch uses the renewed-attention route because UK Research and Innovation published a strategy-linked funding note on September 9 and TechRadar covered the strategy on September 10. Those later publications show current circulation of the policy; neither establishes a separate implementation milestone.
