Digantara
Bengaluru company that tracks objects in orbit for governments; its SCOT satellite reached space in January 2025, and a $50 million Series B valued it at $200 million.
Digantara sells surveillance of space itself: it tracks the satellites, rocket bodies and debris already in orbit and sells the resulting picture to governments. Anirudh Sharma, Rahul Rawat and Tanveer Ahmed built the company in Bengaluru, though its founding date is contested — TechCrunch in 2023 and Forbes in 2026 place it in December 2018, while TechCrunch and Payload Space in late 2025 give 2020. Its first substantial piece of infrastructure was announced in August 2022: a commercial space situational awareness observatory in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, built to see objects as small as 10 cm, which chief executive Anirudh Sharma said would fill a crucial gap in tracking coverage over the region.
Its own eye in orbit is SCOT, the Space Camera for Object Tracking, which went up on SpaceX's Transporter-12 rideshare on 14 January 2025 and works from a sun-synchronous orbit, where it can pick out resident space objects down to 5 cm and revisit them more often than ground telescopes manage. Digantara said in March 2025 that the satellite had been commissioned and had returned its first image, of Earth's limb with Buenos Aires lit below. A missile-warning line called ALBATROSS is the second product: two dedicated spacecraft the company said in December 2025 it would fly alongside the surveillance constellation, part of a shift from civil space traffic work towards defence buyers.
Money arrived in steps. A $2.5 million seed round in 2021 was followed by a $10 million Series A1 in June 2023 led by Peak XV Partners, then by a $50 million Series B announced on 16 December 2025, which TechCrunch and Payload Space reported with 360 ONE Asset, SBI Investment of Japan, Peak XV, Kalaari Capital and Ronnie Screwvala as backers. Filings reported by Entrackr in January 2026 put the round's post-money valuation at $200 million and named Reliance Business Ventures as the largest cheque at $30 million, an investor absent from the December coverage. The same filings show a business barely trading a year earlier: ₹50 lakh of operating revenue against a ₹20.9 crore loss in the year to March 2025. Even the running total is disputed, with TechCrunch giving $64.5 million raised to date and Forbes $65 million.
Expansion has been aimed at defence buyers abroad. In February 2025 Digantara picked Colorado Springs for a US assembly, integration and test site to build optical and LiDAR payloads, promising 61 jobs at an average wage of $82,645 and $35 million of capital investment against incentives of up to $759,034 from the state, $198,225 from the city and $812,030 from El Paso County; agreements with Singapore's Defence Science and Technology Agency followed in February 2026 and with Thailand's Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency in March 2026. The constellation has moved more slowly than the plans. In June 2023 the company said it would put eight commercial satellites in low Earth orbit and ship its software platform in the second quarter of 2024; in December 2025 it said fifteen surveillance satellites and two missile-warning craft would fly through 2026-27, with launches in March, June and October 2026. By July 2026 Forbes counted one satellite in orbit, ten more planned over the following two years, and about $5 million of revenue in the year to March 2026.
