GSLV-F17 places EOS-05 in intended orbit

The Indian Space Research Organisation says its GSLV-F17 rocket placed the EOS-05 Earth-observation satellite into its intended sub-geosynchronous transfer orbit after lifting off from Sriharikota early on September 4. The mission result supersedes the agency's August 29 pre-launch schedule, which had listed a 2:55 a.m. IST liftoff.
ISRO identifies GSLV-F17 as the 19th flight of India's Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle and describes EOS-05 as an Earth-observation spacecraft. It says the satellite was placed in a sub-geosynchronous transfer orbit.
News On AIR, citing ISRO, reported that GSLV-F17 lifted off from the Second Launch Pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 2:55 a.m. IST after a 27-hour countdown and placed the 2,367-kilogram EOS-05 payload into orbit about 18 minutes later.
