ISRO details EOS-05's first planned orbit manoeuvre

The agency's September 5 notice reports a completed engine burn and an updated transfer orbit; it does not say the spacecraft has reached its intended geostationary slot.

The Indian Space Research Organisation published a September 5 update saying EOS-05 completed its first planned orbit manoeuvre at 20:19 IST. ISRO said the spacecraft's liquid apogee motor burned for 5,406.4 seconds.

The agency estimated the orbit after that burn at 20,000 kilometres by 31,129 kilometres. It said further manoeuvres were planned to place EOS-05 in geostationary orbit at the 85.5°E slot, so the September 5 notice did not mark final arrival there.

ISRO's September 6 follow-up says a second operation raised the spacecraft's apogee to an estimated 35,786 kilometres after a 338.9-second burn, and that the satellite was healthy. The agency's mission page identifies EOS-05 as an Earth-observation spacecraft and India's first imaging satellite intended for geosynchronous orbit.
