Norway’s Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT) plans to support India’s PierSight maritime satellite constellation through its global ground network. KSAT’s October 29, 2026 announcement describes a signed agreement covering launch and early-orbit operations, satellite communications and routine mission support through its KSATlite network.

PierSight is developing satellites that combine synthetic aperture radar imaging with Automatic Identification System reception. KSAT’s earlier account explains that this pairs radar detections of vessels with the identities ships broadcast, while radar can also detect activity when those broadcasts are absent.

The ground-services arrangement makes PierSight a KSAT customer, according to the October announcement. It differs from the prospective data-supply relationship KSAT described on September 9: evaluating future PierSight observations for its Vake maritime platform. PierSight’s account describes that separate arrangement as a letter of intent for KSAT to become a potential customer of its data.

KSAT’s October announcement does not disclose the ground-services agreement’s value, a service-start date or how many satellites it covers. Its September account targets 2027 for PierSight’s first commercial satellite, Varuna 2.0; the new announcement provides no revised launch date.
