Pixxel plans to pursue more US civilian, defence and intelligence contracts through Pixxel Federal, a subsidiary outlined in its 29 October 2026 announcement. The Bengaluru satellite manufacturer named Allyson Jenkins as the unit’s chief executive and said it plans an office in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area.

Jenkins previously led Pixxel’s public-sector business. The company named retired US Army Lieutenant General Ray Palumbo, former aerospace executive Patrick M. Antkowiak and former intelligence executive Frank X. Avila to the subsidiary’s board. Pixxel said the unit would offer Earth-observation technology, satellite mission systems and geospatial intelligence.

A Pixxel Federal team predates the latest announcement. In its 5 May 2026 release about a National Reconnaissance Office contract, Pixxel had already identified its Federal team under Jenkins as responsible for executing the work. The October announcement does not establish when the subsidiary was legally incorporated.

Pixxel identifies defence sensing, mineral detection, environmental monitoring and agriculture among the intended applications of its hyperspectral imagery, which separates reflected light into narrow wavelength bands to distinguish materials. NASA’s vendor page independently records that its Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition programme has acquired Pixxel datasets for scientific use.

The US plans sit alongside Pixxel’s Indian manufacturing operations: the company announced the opening of its satellite manufacturing and integration facility in Bengaluru in January 2024. Its latest announcement identifies neither a newly awarded federal contract nor a date for opening the proposed Washington-area office.
